I don't know much about TV's but the lcd TV"s i've seen 40+inches seem to be around 16 inches thick. In my opinion, they're a much better deal than plasma TV's because you can get a 50 inch sony HDTV LCD for under 3500. Although the picture won't be as good as the plasma, it'll still be better than most other stuff on the market. Plus an added benefit to an LCD is that they have a longer life span than a plasma
