They just need to get ghosting delay down in images and a little more contrast. They are a good buy and I kinda like them better than the RPTV's. I agree they look great , but plasma does own it without the price worries.... I sat there and looked back and forth at some plasma's , the lcd at direct view was getting blown away by plasma's from far and an angle.
Plasma might blow-out early , who knows , the only thing that freaks me is that there are a lot of unknown companies doing things with who knows what. Then when you go for brand-name stuff it gets very exspensive.
The LCD's from sony have tons of anti-glare properties which really makes the TV usable at all times of the day without glare annoyances or special lighting to not promote glare. Also the rptv's have some nice anti-glare setups too.
It seems to me all the plasma's are more or less art , than function. Nice little picture frame to watch. With a simple and very relfective glass cover...(none are glass , its just how it seems)
Also plasma tech is kinda old , so the video processors and what not used with it seem to give a lot of blocking in quick moving video scenes. They need to dust all the old plasma units and come out with a more efficient cheap one , with a better video proccessor and better anti-glare screens.
Also look for DLP TV technology from samsung and soon others.
