90' DX engine swap questions...
Hey guys, new to the forum here and have some questions for ya...
I was set on getting my DOHC ZC and swapping into my DX but just recently found what looked like a damn good price on a b18b1 with auto tranny(would probably sell the tranny and try to find a manual). The engine has 70k miles and for bother the engine and tranny is $500. I would have to pick up like 8 hours away so I wouldn't really be able to inspect either. Well here's where the kicker is...
I already have a lightened ZC flywheel (got a good price on it), the pg7 ECU and a hydro tranny set up (I think the b18 is cable?) so this would probably be money in the hole until sold. With the engine and tranny for the b18 being pretty cheap do you think I could still stay around $1000+ for everything on the swap (ECU, perfomance clutch, flywheel, axles, etc.). That is what I was looking at for the ZC swap.
Also, if it is extra money, would it be worth it for dependability and every now and then a little street racin'?
One last question: I thought I knew what I was looking for for tranny wise on the ZC but someone threw me a curve ball. I was told I either need a true ZC tranny or a 88-91 Si Tranny. What was also said was SI Tranny with ZC 3-4- and Si 5. What is needed to do a 'hybrid' tranny? Can you by just the gears? And what tranny will work with the b18b1 to keep my options open.
Anything else I am not taking into consideration? :?
