because it doesn't have vtec and it got a bad rap from idiots. porting them makes them to that extreme makes them horribly unreliable. but it would be no differen than a full race built b18c1 pushing unstreetable n/a hp. but if you know how to take care of them them are reliable. think about it. diesel motors are better than gas motors and more reliable. but how come you don't see diesel advertised either? it's not as efficient as a gas motor because the rotors problem with emissions. they have to burn alot of gas to to make up for the nox. but a simple safc lean out will net you atleast 7 whp, and 3-4 mroe mpg putting them on par with your average bseries motor. it's just that pistons are more popular. but rotaries put out some crazy numbers and as long as you have supporting fuel mods will rev like a mothefucker. they lose alot of energy in the exhaust hence why they respond to turbos so well. look at the number they make with 2 liter 20b's etc. or what n/a quad rotor motors make.
