Major thread damage includes generally badly smashed or stripped threads. sometimes either tap or die can b used. a tap is a threaded tool for cutting internal threads in holes. some things to remember is to use a coarse thread because it holds better thatn fine threads.you may be able touse the tapping oversize method. and you can use a thread repair insert when an oversized hole and fastner is not acceptable. ask if you need to know how to use a thread repair insert. that is your best bet. but thats my opinion.
