I don't know about anyone else, but I can't say I feel much of a "kick" when vtec switches lobes. Could partially be the fact that I have a slushbox, but the SOHC vtec is more economy and less performance oriented so you're probably not going to see a whole lot of change. But it will engage in the upper rpms, around 4800 rpm - but also depends on other factors. Hope this helps...
