man truth to be told obviously ur drivin a dx for a reason yes vtec engages around 5500 rpm redline is 7250 unless u have chipped ecu stock ex its not really noticeable with i/h/e u can definably tell its there for example my jdmd15b block with a y8 head y8 hg it starts to pull reall nicly after 5500 and i can hear the change actully engine souds diffrent all sohc vtec dose is lock up the intake up and the dohc engine both of them lock up intake and exhaust
i dont know bout u other ex rivers but my engine deffinetly pulls aloot harder when vtec is engaged
