how much boost for jr m45 kit on sohc?

what the most anyone has done, or head of someone doing? i already have the larger crank pulley, and am thinking of changing the sc pulley with a smaller one. i think this would put me at around 11 psi. i'm more concerned about turning the supercharger to high than the boost.

I am spinning at 10psi. That is about as fast as I would go unless you are going to port the blower. The most important thing is tuning, and bigger than stock inj.

i've already got rc 440's, and an obd1 ecu w/ hondata s200. i have jackson racing's 10lb pulley, which put me up from 5.5 to 8.5 psi according to the stock map sensor. porting the blower and doing some head work is probably something i'm not prepared to do at this time.

If I recall right the 10lbs pulley is a 3.2" pulley. Going any smaller will likely result in slippage.

I'm not sure how the D series blowers are setup. If they run off the alternator you can get a stepper pulley. A 12% increase (standard stepper) would put you at 11psi.

Note that at 11psi you'll be raising your intake temperates another 30-40f from 8.5psi. Detonation WILL be a problem so you'll have to tune VERY conservatively. I haven't used meth/water (50/50 mix) injection, but you may want look into this option. As it will lower your intake temperatures some.

I wouldn't waste my money on just water injection though.

D-series motors can't use the stepper pulleys. Instead, there is a single belt wrapping around the crank, alternator, and blower.

Then your stuck with going with a bigger crank pulley.

i already have the larger crank pulley. if i remember correctly, my intake temps on the dyno started at about 130, and went up to the 180's by the end of the pull. i haven't run it at the track w/ my laptop hooked up, so i don't know how high the intake temps will get at the track (dragstrip). what's the difference between water and water/meth injection? i agree w/ it being pointless at this point, but if i up the boost any more, that should solve one problem. i'm assuming the other things i need to be concerned about would be turning the supercharger too high and belt slippage?

thanks,
james.

i guess i could have a new bracket made, going off the old one, changing the location of the tensioner pulley so that i wraps around the supercharger pulley more.

My calcs showed 188f for intake temperatures at 8.5pis and 230+ for 11psi. 68 f base temperature.

Measure your crank pulley. The largest D series one is 6.3".

Water doesn't burn and does evaporate as quickly as alcohol. So a meth/water mix is a much better solution then just water.
