PRELUDE JRSC QUESTIONS

I have read all the faqs on the Jackson Racing web pages, but I want to know from someone with experience..... How reliable are JRSC Preludes? I have the money to buy one and I am probably going to go get one on Friday if I can get some more feedback........ Does anyone on the board have a JRSC Prelude? If so, has there been any problems? Let me know any information that you have to offer.

Joe

it's a hit or miss thing. some people, such as myself, have had no problems with their JRSC whatsoever. while others seem to have bad luck and are having problem after problem. so it's hard to say what it'll do for you. get it installed professionally by someone you trust, get it properly tuned and you should be fine, and i stress the word should. coz i've heard stories go both ways like i said, half the people have nothing but good things to say about their JRSC, and the other half wish they never got it in the first place. you can say the same about turbos. i've read and heard horror stories about luders with turbos. but then i hear the complete opposite from others as well. sorry if this doesn't help you. but i'm just offering my experiences.

I am just scared that my engine is not gonna take the JRSC for as long as I want it to. I am planning on keeping my car as a daily driver for at least another 5 years. I put about 200-300 miles on it every week and I just don't want it to BLOW UP my engine at 50,000 miles or something like that. I have only heard of 2 guys blowing their engines with a JRSC but one was hosing it and the other guy was trying to get 13 pounds of boost out of it. I want reliability and a high 13 second car.

ok well, as long as you keep it stock, it should last a very long time! If you want 13's, the JRSC should do it. If not, get yourself a VPAC and that'll move your VTEC down earlier in the rpm range, thus giving you more VTEC. That should definitely do it. In my experience and from what I heard, the JRSC kit is set a bit rich, but that makes sense cuz it allows for a HUGE margin of error. However, if you get yourself a Fuel Pressure Guage, you can actually lower the amount of fuel a bit if too much fuel pressure is your problem. i say get it. you want 13's, it can give you that. you want more? look elsewhere cuz you're asking for trouble if you try and go faster by adding more than an 8psi pulley upgrade.

I just put a supercharger on my Prelude and I am very happy with it. Basically as long as you stay at the stock boost (6lbs) and get it dyno tuned with wideband 02 sensor you will be good to go for a long time. The only people I have heard of blowing the engine with the Prelude supercharger were either running 9lb pulley or shooting Nitrous. The ringlands on the Prelude pistons are weak and don't hold up well past 6lbs. If you want to be really safe get a Hondata 2b setup and your engine will run like stock.

I called jackson racing and they said that there was not a boost upgrade yet that is made by them. I think I am going to go ahead and buy one. Does anyone know where to get one at the best price? Also, how much should I expect to pay for installation?

there's a guy named jim who runs a shop called motorvations or soemthing like that and he manufactures 9psi pulleys himself for $140. that's just for the pulley. what's your email address? i have his number somewhere. when i find it i can email it to you. i'm thinking about getting it but i have to upgrade a bunch of stuff before i do so.

This thread is kinda old, but I was wondering if you are still looking for the 9lb pulley? I have one for sale. Contact me if needed.
