hey i have made my decision to go supercharged with my 94 ex civic. but im lookin around to see who has the good deals, who has the good product, etc.. i have come up with a universal procharger kit, JRSC, vortech. who has experiences with any of these, what did you like/dislike. you know pro' and cons. im lookin for experienses, i know the basics of all the above chargers (how they work).

I haven't had to many issues. Temp runs just alittle hotter than na.
I have blown a belt or 2. Now I keep a spare. Also you have to keep an eye on the tensioners. They go accaionally. jr suggest changing them every 5000 miles.
I still get great gas milage. The only draw back I have seen is they are limited to the boost you can get. You can get more boost from a stepper pully or a larger crank pully.
I have superchargers on both my cars. I am impressed with both my set ups. My daily driver functions like a normal car, just has that hidden secret when you mash the throttle. My weekend warrior gets the shit beat out of it and has held up quite well. Besides the few blow belts and tensioner.
Mods: Cold Air Intake, Ground Kit, Weapon R SS Header, Tanabe SMH Exhaust, Suspension Tech Swaybars (Front & Rear)

In regards to a Prelude (specifically 5th gens) would a JRSC kit benefit greatly from a custom header (such as Hytech, SMSP, RMF) because most supercharged setups I've seen they all sport a Megan or DC header.

I'm not familiar with SMSP or RMF, but Hytech comes highly rated but can also be quite expensive. DC Header is OK, but a lot of folks in the B series markets have used Kamikazi with great luck and power gains. Having any header other than stock is obviously a benefit, but the differences between them SC'd or not might be +/- 3 HP from one brand to another, depending on how they are made, how short or long the primaries are, etc. Some like the DC Sports for more low end torque, and some like the Kami for high end HP. Just choose which is right for your driving habits and what fits your budget the best, and you'll make gains over stock for sure.

Ok cool, I just figured since the H22A doesn't respond well to the DC header that maybe a custom header would easily push a JRSC kit into 210-220whp.
Another question: Most kits I see people just bolt the blower onto the stock intake manifold. Would an aftermarket/improved manifold, say a Euro-R manifold or ported stock manifold, increase power output? I assume it would.

You might be thinking about either a turbo or a centrifugal blower, in which case a different IM might help more over stock. I've seen quite a few turbo guys running the Edelbrock IM. However, the JRSC comes with it's own intake manifold that is not exchangeable with another intake manifold... it's specifically designed for the JRSC's roots blower.

Those are indeed the factory lower half of the IM. Thats so sad because that is probably the only thing thats holding it back from making any real power compared to the B18c setup.
Just so everyone know, the GSR's factory IM also has a 2 peice design like the lude. The NSX has this setup as well. Its a dual stage IM that aids more air flow to the head when in the upper RPM's. The noise eith the added airflow when these secondaries open up is what people commonly mistake as VTEC.
Anyhow, the GSR's stock IM has been proven to be the limiting factor in making big power gains in the search for more flow. Unless you port it, might as well go to a single stage setup like an ITR IM or skunk 2 design.
GSR's JRSC setup eliminates the stock IM completely with a new IM one. i really don't know why JR skimped out on the IM on the lude. Cost? Well never know. But if its the only way to work, then porting is probably the best thing that will happen here.

Wow, i stand corrected! Sorry for the misinformation on my part - I presumed the lude was the same as just about any other JRSC setup, but it's apparently not. Good info guys!
