I want a little more umph in my Civic Ex so I've chosen a SC with low boost over a TC because of reliability, cost, and minimal maintaince on a more or less factory motor. I was wondering what SC would be the most reliable, and gentlier on my engine? I plan to run it very low, like 6 boost on my factory engine, should I upgrade anything to make sure that my engine lasts a long long time? Same question but with my my automatic tranny?
Thanks
yeah i have been wanting to go turbo for a while, but have started to lean more to super charger due to reliability maintainance and cost. i think that hands down jackson racing is the best sc out there
oh and as for your motor lasting, you shouldn't have to worry about much if you are only wanting around 6. maybe pistons and rods if you want to insure yourself.
How is Jackson Racing compared to Vortech, both in power and reliablity at low boost? Other than upgrading pistons and rods, should I change my ignition system, get a cat-back system, header, and new injectors?
Your only choice is Jackson Racing because Vortech doesn't make a kit for the D16. If you are interested, you should at least make an effort to look into what kits are available for your car.
Sak, sorry I should have corrected this post, I searched some older posts and found everything (I think) I need to know about superchargers. The price for everything is a little more than I expected, but it was with a lot of optional things thrown into the mix that brought it up to near 6k, I'm sure If I knock some of the optional stuff out and shop around for some deals that I can get it all done a little cheaper (hopefully) lol.

Adjustable boost fuel pressure regulator? Not quite sure what it is, but if its the same as the JR FMU, then the JRSC kit comes with one.
Must have with kit:
Colder plugs
Boost gauge
Fuel pressure gauge (in car is fine)
High flow in-tank fuel pump (Walbro GSS-342)
Recomended:
JR Map Controller
Besides that... all the other parts you listed is optional. Of course I am a firm beleiver that you should always get it tuned so the Apex-i V-AFC can be useful there as well as an FPR.
