What type of oil to use?
I have a d16y7 boosted with a Jackson Racing SC running 6 1/2 lbs. Should I just stick to 5w30 or move onto something else? Just wondering if ones better then the other for my boosted application.

my mistake, I should have mentioned that. Its for my motor, not the SC.

to get 20 more horsepower kidding ....

I`m going to install SC quite soon, so I`ll be changing SC oil, bearings and coupler. Want to run it really properly.

i know this is a really old thread but actually different oils can do a better job at keeping an engine cooler to prevent detonation. i was told to run thicker oil and to run synthetic just to be safe

oil weight is dependant on clearance specs- you run it too thick, it can starve the engines bearings. HT/HS will need to be higher as torque and power increases.


I would just run 10w30 synth. for the original posters setup.
