Brian's EK (Under Construction)
As the title says, this is my EK that I picked up about a few months ago and it is in bad shape. I have started making small changes to it. Added a rear lip, bought some new fenders (not yet installed), getting some new suspension, new paint, new rims/tires, and an engine eventually.
Here are just a few pics of the outside. The car not at license plate addy FYI.
Back
Front
I know, I know, she is in bad need of some attention. For the price quote I got to get the car repainted, I just decided to stay with orange, gonna do a two-tone black/orange with flake, considering everywhere I have gone for a quote the cost is double to change the color.
Alot will be done to this car, so don't worry.

I'd like to see the progress on this! Good luck! What other plans are you thinking for it?

Suspension, paintjob, rims, engine swap(built b18c5 engine) (already got the motor, just gotta get all the pieces together), little interior work, and maybe, maybe a sound system.
Not necessarily in that order, but that is the gist. I got the money to get it repainted and rims w/tires or save more money and get the swap done.
I want this to be my weekend, special occasion, and I wanna show off car.

First exterior mod will be new fenders. I got them the other week and starting modding them the way I want to look.
First performance mod will be some new suspension in the form of KYB AGX and some H&R Sport Springs for a nice combo and a front/rear camber kit to get the tires to sit flat on the ground.
Tune in as I will update this thread with pics as I go.

Need some help guys, I want to replace the carbon fiber hood on the car with something less, idk, but I want something else that will mesh better with the body like the Evo style cf hood or something, recommendations welcome.
Also, I want to get some blacked out headlights but I don't know where to go, know any places where I can get some quality headlights ?
Thx for the help.

it looks like you already have blacked out headlights. but you can get CTR knockoffs from Ebay. personally i'd replace the front bumper/fenders/mirrors with OEM parts and get either an OEM style cf hood or just an OEM hood. but looks like its got some promise

UPDATE:
First off, I bought a motor (B18C5) off a friend on mine that has a built bottom end. But, there was a catch, the block may or may not be messed up. I took the chance and bought cause the price of the internals was hella expensive and I didn't have that kind of money. Anyway, I took the block to a reputable shop that does the best work I have seen.
Well...,
I took the block to a performance shop up in Marietta called Forged Performance (great shop, highly recommend) and as I thought, the block is totally useless. When the motor was put together, it was done poorly and when the holes for the head studs were bored out for 1/2 studs, they were drilled crooked. The block is useless but, on the bright side, all the internals are still great (Darton Sleeves, JE Pistons, Manley Rods, ARP Rod Bolts, and Type R Crank).
Now I have a dilemma, I want to get another block and reuse the internals, which is possible, but I don't know what block to get.
Here are the choices:
1. USDM B16A2 - 1250
2. USDM B20 - 950
3. JDM B18B - 850
Here the thing, the sleeves are bored out to 84mm to accept, as you might guess, the 84mm pistons. If I remember correctly, the B20 is 84mm stock.
I really need some advice on which way to go as this is going to be my turbo project.
I will post pics of the block when I get home just to show you guys something.
THX

yes, the b20 comes with a stock bore of 84mm but i don't think you'll be able to use the b18c5 rods (and maybe not the crank) in the b20 block.
i'd either go with a b20 block or another b18c1 or c5 block
b20 would have more torque but like i said you'll need new internals besides the pistons becausee b18 and b20 internals are different.
if you picked up a b18c block you could reuse all the internals from your current block and it doesn't cost that much to have the b18c block bored to 84.
its not required but if you bore the b18c to 84mm then you'd probly want to resleeve it.

So, you saying that all the forged internals in the other block would basically be useless if I got the b20 block ? How sure of this are you ?
I would think since they are both b-series motors, the parts would be interchangeble, minus the crank, but the pistons, rods, and sleeves could be reused in the b20 block.

i think the only thing you'd be able to reuse with the b20 block would be the pistons. you'd need new bearings because you'd need a b20 crank. and i know all b-series rods are different because i couldn't use my b16 rods in a b18c block.
basically the rods have to match the crank for length issues.

Ok, I see. So, with that in mind, I would say that the way for the least headache would be the JDM b18b ?
Since the b-series motor in the 1.8L trim utilize common parts, right ?

actually b18b and b18c are similar but still use different parts.
the easiest thing would be to find a b18c1 or b18c5 block.
you might be able to put a b18c5 crank and rods in a b18b but i highly doubt it. you'd probly need a b18b crank and b18b rods.

That just sounds odd. How sure are you that these parts aren't interchangrable ?
The crank doesn't bother me so much if I can't swap that over, I am mainly want the rods, pistons, and sleeves to swap over to a new block.

i'm 100% sure that b18b (Ls) rods won't fit in a b18c or the other way around.
but i'll let someone else post and reassure you because i don't know much about b20's. i'd still assume they wouldn't work

Ok, maybe we missed something here. You are aware that the internal from my current longblock are all aftermarket. The pistons are JE, the rods are Manley Rods, and Darton sleeves. So, you mean to tell me that these internals which are made for b-series motor wouldn't go in to b-series motor ?
Side Note:
How about this, I found a motor from one of the advertisers on another forum and was wondering what you guys think.
I would be a b18b1 complete swap. I would have all the internals put in and get the Golden Eagle VTEC conversion kit and use the b16 head I have on it.
What do you guys think ?
