D200 vs. nikon 70-200 VR

Help me decide guys!!! I'm ready for my next big investment and i'm debating on whether i should upgrade from my d50 to the d200 or go for the 70-200 Vr lens! they cost about the same since i'll get the vertical battery grip + CF cards if i go for the d200. I know i'll still get great pics with the lens on the d50 but i after using my friends d200, i fell in love with it~!!! what would you guys doo??~!!!!

Get the lens. You can always get the body later, perhaps when they come out with the D250 or something.

This depends on how often you use the camera and what kind of things you shoot. If you are happy with your D50 most of the time, then I'd recommend investing in a decent lens like the 70-200VR you quoted - to be sure, I've only heard of good things about this particular lens. On a similar note, if you are happy with your existing lens, and if you can make use of most of the added features of the D200, then go for it. Bear in mind that lenses in general do hold their values a lot better than camera bodies do. So it's really your choice.

Yeah I agree, what limits you the most?

I almost forgot! I also have this great AF-S 70-200VR lens too (I misread your post earlier and thought you were considering a different one ) and it's still one of the very best telephoto zoom lenses to have. Here is a pic I took with my basic D70 at the FIA-GT race at Silverstone last year.

F430
Corvette

No need to remind me about the sensor dusts, I've already had it cleaned.
