Well for my photoshop class, I need to be taking some pictures. Well my family HAD a sony cyber shot until my sister fucked it all up. So now im in the market for my own camera. I want something with good quality, and easy to carry around. Im going to be using this for my own personal use and not specifically class. Im hoping for something in the 150$-300$. I need to start taking pics NOW for this project so sooner the responses the better, thanks in advance home fry's
Try investing a few more bones and get a used Nikon D50, it will cost you close to 500 bones and you wont regret it. If you want a P&S camera, you can get a sony cyber shot for about 300-350.
They take good everyday snapshots but nothing special. If its for your photoshop class, then it might be ok but if you buy the D50, you wont regret it and it will alot better than the compact cameras. Choice is really up to you.
if you want a great camera in that price range with a lot of options for creativity, look into film, cheap cameras and it teaches you to learn what to do before you take your pictures, if you just need somethin to snap this an that, i dunno whats out there really... i have a canon rebel T2 film, easy can be had $200 brand new with lense im sure.

I second the Nikon Coolpix for point and shoot. Very easy to use and takes great pics. I'm now a canon DSLR guy but for point and shoot, I'd take a Nikon over anything. They take great photos right out of the box.

I would buy from bhphotovideo.com or adorama.com. Both offer excellent prices and service.
In that price range I would actually go over a tad and get the Canon G9. From everything that I have read its a great camera. It offers the ability to shoot raw which gives you a lot of room to work with your photographs in photoshop.
