Night shots:
You NEED a tripod, or stable surface to place camera on. It must not move a single millimeter during capture.
set camera to Manual mode, depending on light source available, set shutterspeed in the 2-15second range, with ur min aperature being 5.2, unless ur doing close up shots or zoomed in, and want to create a depth of field(check sticky in this forum on shutterspeed and aperature to see what they do when adjusted)
set it at the lowest ISO, 80, dont use auto.
now i think ur camera is like most, where u can press the shutter release button half way or slightly so it can meter the light and it will let u know if the shutterspeed and aperature are correctly set with either a green highlight of the numbers or red, green being in good range, red being under or overexposed.not sure how the camera exactly works, check manual if needed.
and shoot the object, the camera cant be moved at all during long exposures so make sure its stable, if u have to use the timer mode that way ur hand doesnt jog the camera when u press the shutter button.
macro:
use macro mode(usually a flower symbol) to shoot close up/macros of animal or flowers, etc, think of it as "larger than life" as it will magnify everything, you'll probably wanna use a slightly higher ISO depending on light and whatnot, as higher ISO will create a higher sensitivity to light there for letting u use a faster shutterspeed to catch an unstable object, cat/dog etc...unless ur in daylight and have great light source on the subject, keep ISO down, as it will provide for sharpest image, higher ISO = more grain, especially in night/dark shots.
you'll wanna keep the camera about 6" to a 1ft away from subject when shooting in macro, and dont use digital zoom if ur cam has it.
play with shutterspeed lenghts as it may need adjusting depending on light, u have a 30second max length on ur cam, so u can get some nice shots but the aperature is pretty limited.

with reviews and whatnot
not a bad cam, hope i've helped, if u got any more q's then post em. and be sure to post images in the forum, we are interested and you can get good critiques if wanted
