Nice shoot! I like #3 the best. One rule of thumb is to avoid the dead center shot. A simple rule to remember and it helps make the photo more interesting. You don't have to follow it all the time, but it helps when you are starting out.

Excellent pics for the first time out with the camera. Your best picture is the third one. The first two pictures are too centered. If you will move your subject closer to an edge you will have much more satisfiying images. You should read up on articles about the rule of thirds. You might also look into taking your shots at sunset or sunrise because they offer more vivid colors.
