What I'm concerned with is being able to get nice pictures in almost any environment. I need point-and-shoot (so I'm shying away from d-slr cameras) and I'm really focused on having a good resolution. The lens has had amazing reviews, and is definitely the strong point of this camera. Let me know if anybody has any thoughts!

A friend of mine has that camera, and she loves it for a daily camera.
im more of a sony cybershot person though.
i REALLY want a canon EOS 30D, but all my money is going into my car right now so i cant afford it.
The strong point to the camera is the Leica lens and it is equiped with a wide angle 28mm lens. Panasonic are great cameras but one of the main draw back is the low light shooting. In general Panasonic camera have a lot of noise unless if you shoot at low ISO. I have the Panasonic FX07, pretty much almost the same camera but a smaller body. The main problem with the camera is anything over 200 ISO is pretty bad on the camera. I know your camera is rated to shoot at 1600 ISO, but I bet anything anything over 400 ISO you won't want to print or show people. To allow them to shoot at such high ISO, panasonic use a very heavy noise reduction process which will clean up the noise but you will loose a lot of details.
You said you want a camera that will shoot well in all types of conditions, this one will do that but just know your limits. If shooting in low light try to use a tripod if you can't use flash. The camera has optical IS, but it only helps you to a certain extent.
In good lighting conditions, you will love the camera.

Thanks both of you, but this information might be the most useful advice I've received. Wow, SuperAkuma, thanks again (and again). I have no problem with a tripod. Most of the shots I'll be taking will be of my car (go figure) in the sun. I own a few lights but hate using them. Low ISO is fine, I don't do much for action shots. I kind of like the size of the body, it makes the lens stick out a little less (I realize this is reverse logic, but it really works well for the bag I have). I think I'll be getting one in the next month or so, after my bank account has been buffered a little better.
Thanks again, both of you!
