My Review:

Camera has a great feel, more like a real SLR than some skinny camera for your pocket. Controls are all in perfect position for quick and easy changes. Rotating body comes in handy quite often for eithe holding camera in the air or lower than eye level.

Resolution is awesome and provides crystal clear pics along with a very high res LCD screen for high quality viewing. Probably one of the best battery lives of any digital camera at almost 6 hours to a charge. On screen histogram is imo the most helpful feature on the camera along with the white balance features. Several shooting modes with manual giving all control to the user.

The only setbacks to the camera are the memory type(sony mem. stick), limited burst shooting, and the video mode could be better but hey, its not a video camera.

Overall i would highly recommend it if you in the market for a mid-higher end digital camera and it can be bought online for a little over $600 nowadays.

Your Review: A fabulous camera at a good price. I mean, I really couldn't ask for anything more than this camera gives me, it proves itself as an excellent 3MP camera day in and day out. The only thing left that I desire, is sound with my videos, however, the next highest cybershot model includes sound recording via an internal microphone. The file formats are the most universal, and the memory sticks it takes are widely available. I've never had a problem with either hardware or software funtionality. Really, I can't say enough good things about this cam. In the future I'll be selling this to my Dad, and buying a higher-end Sony, but will always have praise for the DSC-P71.

I got a hpphotosmart 945 right before christmas

The Photosmart 945 is HP's new Top-of-the-Line digital camera for 2003. It features 5-Megapixel resolution and a powerful 8x Fujinon optical zoom that produces outstanding close-ups and brilliant photos of distant objects. The Photosmart 945 is HP's first digital camera to feature Adaptive Lighting Technology that enables digital cameras to produce photos that look more like what consumers see. The color electronic viewfinder lets you frame your shots with "through the lens" ease just like an SLR camera. The 2-inch color LCD monitor can also be used for framing or review of images.

The Photosmart 945 captures still images up to 2608 x 1952 pixels in size which can be printed out to 13" x 19" and larger. You can directly output to compatible HP photo printers using just the USB cable. It also features HP Instant Share technology, which allows users to snap a photo and then select on the camera where the photo will go the next time the camera is connected to a computer or optional HP Photosmart 8881 digital camera dock. Audio notes up to 30 seconds in length can be added to still images and the camera also captures up to 60 seconds of 288 x 208 motion video with audio at 15fps.

HP Adaptive Lighting Technology is a breakthrough technology that permits digital cameras to produce photos that look more like what we see with our own eyes. It balances brightness relationships between bright and dark areas in a photo, preserving gentle contrasts but compressing harsh contrasts. In doing so, some local areas in a photo are lightened and other areas are left alone. Professional photographers do this by hand in the darkroom by "burning and dodging." Image scientists call this "adaptive scene re-lighting", or digitally adjusting the various sources of light that illuminate a scene. This exclusive HP Adaptive Lighting Technology is included in PhotoSmart 945 camera's digital flash feature and can be switched "low", "high" and "off" based on the user's needs.
