what am i doing wrong? (motion shots, 56k stay away)

hey guys. i dont know what i'm doing wrong with these shots. some of them turned out good and the others were just crap. all of these were shot with my 50mm and ranged in shutter speed and fstop. for a majority of them i shot in a 1/25 and a 2.2 fstop. i'll label them. (these were all shot in shutter priority)

First of all are you using a Tripod or Monopod. If you dont have a monopod, get one.

About the Pictures, shooting panning shots at night is tricky. You shutter speed it too low and aperture is too large IMO. I usualy shoot night panning at 1/40. F5 or F6 and ISO 800 and use a monopod. Low shutter speed like 1/20 makes it really hard to get a sharp focus(moving subject) unless you are really experienced, large aperture makes the DOF very shallow so the the front looks sharp while the back looks blurry and shooting at 800 gives you a bit or noise but it can be corrected. Practice more during daytime till you get the hang of it and then shoot at night.

Here are a couple for example, 1/40 F5.6 ISO 800 using Monopod

This one is pretty good but large aperture made the front a bit blurry.

your shutter speeds are just a hair to long. And if you look at the light trails in a few of the shots you can see a slight sweeping blur (up-down). It looks as if your panning wasn't perfectly level.
