Bad Rings?
i have a 98 ITR head fully rebuilt on a 93 B16A block (stock), i know im burning oil but not sure of the reason, i smell the smoke and sometimes see it when the wind blows in my direction, its only when i come to a stop, also i know its a light collored smoke but past that i cannot tell but i know the smell of burning oil very well, lol. could this be the piston rings? would a leak down test be worth while? im 99.9% sure its coming from the block since i had the head rebuilt before it was put on 3 angle valve job, new stems, guides, everything seal wise was replaced. also would this be called blow by?
if it's blueish at all, its oil. Now if you are getting it at higher RPM's, don't be alarmed, but if it does it at lower revs or at idle, you have bad rings or valve seals. my .02

Well something is leaking or going bad that is causing you to burn oil. My guess is, since you say u have a recently re-built head, that you could be correct in saying it's your rings. I could be wrong, because there are a few other things that can cause you to burn oil, try a compression/leakdown test to verify. IDK what numbers for compression are for the B18c5, but there should be no more than 20psi. difference between cyls.
i too have the same issue . but mine occurs when i'm in high RPM's/ in vtec. i've been told thats normal. well how much oil consumption is normal for a type r?
