Which Exhuast System To Get?
Hi I have a 2001 ITR and am in the process of deciding which exhaust system to choose. i am planing on going all motor no turbo or supercharger. Some have told me to get Comptech becuase it works perfect and was made for the ITR and others have sadi the Apex N1 is the best for the car. Which of these or any others would be my best bet for increased performance?
Mods: AEM Cold Air, AEM Fuel Rail, AEM FPR, Spoon 4-1 Stainless Header, Spoon Test Pipe, Apex-I World Sport Exhaust, Intrax ARS Coil-Overs, Mugen Upper Front and Rear Strut Tower Bars, Benen Rear Lower Tie Bar, Spoon Front Lower Tie Bar, 16" Spoon SW-
There are a lot of good systems out there. The N1 is nice and convenient becuase you can just get the universal, you don't have to mess with the cat-back systems. There isn't a point to getting a cat-back system on the ITR becuase we already have a good piping diameter. The N1 looks good and sounds good. The Comptech is really nice also becuase it is made in an axle-back format for the ITR so it just bolts up. I personally am going to go with the Apex-I world sport becuase it sounds the best of all the exhausts that I have heard and I think that it looks the cleanest. I would just find an exhaust that you thinks looks really great and then talk to everyone to make sure that it doesn't make too much noise and doesn't sound annoying. Hope that helps...

They are all going to be very similar. If you use a high-flow cat or test-pipe in conjunction with the exhaust I don't think that there is going to be a difference between the N1, Comptech, World Sport, HKS or any other exhaust. You could amost leave it with the stock becuase the ITR exhaust isn't anything like the other Honda exhausts to begin with.

Define what you mean by best, and tell us what you want to get out of the exhaust. I'll say right now that there is no "best" system out there that fits everyones needs.

Totally. It is hard to improve on the ITR, and I don't think that there is any one exhaust out there that would warrant a "must buy" label. Well said...

My Comptech yielded 2.2 above the VTEC gain, and lost 1-2 below, AFTER already doing intake and header.
The only exhaust that will give you any real gain (and will not be a restriction later) would be a true 2.5" custom one. Call Dave at SMSP or John at Hytech for these. Be prepared to pay a decent penny, but it is worth every one later on when you mod more.

Ayup,
If Real performance is what you crave and not just loud blaring noise for the sake there of, then what Daremo posted is the stuff you are seeking.
SMSP"Dave", Hytech,"John" and Kakimoto-R,'Boom plus toys." are all serious catbacks that are true 2.5" ID setups with no bottlenecks for the Best flow possible.
I though would suggest a thorough study of exactly what you want and need to accomplish for your N/A buildup.
Do NOT start with the 2.5" catback. But, rather a good header with a 2.5" collector and a matching high flow cat. You will feel differences and it will satisfy you a little till you can properly design and decide on your entire N/A plan.

yup, the like he said. its better to get headers first if u want to feel the gains. go with a 2.5 inch collector header, with a high flow cat or straightpipe, and then do ur exhaust system. ur exhaust system will be complete for now after u do that and u should feel much better gains.
Mods: All neon blue, cool air intake, OBX exaust, 2 rockford fosgate 10s series 1,blue door lights, fixen ta paint it supersonic blue, drop it bout 4 er 5 inches and throw me some kobes or geavonas(white) on it
tha exaust
i like OBX myself cause its loud and sounds really good and comes with a silencer for tha times u might need 1 but yea that and it gives u alot more h/p
