Question Help

I installed my DC JDM 4-1 header and carsound cat (Friday). When I step on it sometimes it engages VTEC way after 5700 almost around 7000. I shift into 2nd then it somewhat pauses sort of like it hesitates then continues. It drives normal if I don't punch it but once I get on it this happens. Could it have anything to do with the heat (Iam in Texas) because it doesn't do this in the morning nor the even.

Unhappy

Thanks for the response but I found the problem and I am really pissed at myself. I was low on oil, I can't believe that sh@t! I am usually up on checking that. Does the B18C5 burn oil quickly? I have been up in the rpm band lately. I'll just have to keep reminding myself to check. I can't believe I let that happen.

4.5? 4.0 is factory spec. Overfilling isn't that good..... Unless you have a separate Oil cooler and filter device..

On a separate note, I find that the ITR burns about 1 quart every 3000 miles, with normal everyday driving, with VTEC on and off, not all the time, but not never. So check it at least every 1000 miles, at least.

Getting valves adjusted at 10-15 are kinda soon, unless you hear clicking. I'm at 23, and I'm starting to hear something, I need one done. Service manual says 30,000 miles. But if you drive it hard, expect around 20,000 to 15,000 miles. Unless you REALLY beat it and might have to get it done at 10,000.

You can fit 4.5 without overfilling it....try it...warm up your car and check your dipstick...it will be right at full

He's right there is a difference between cold and hot levels...the main difference is that there is still oil in thehead and it hasn't dripped down to the pan yet.

amount of oil for a Type R with filter change is 4.2 US quarts.for an LS it is 4.0 quarts. read your haines manual, section 8-6 right side of page. if you dont have a haines manual, BUY ONE. and until you do buy one dont answer questions you "think" you know the answers to. "Hot" 5W-30 oil will drain out of the oil passages into your oil pan in about 30 seconds. where you will find an extra 1/3 quart is in your oil filter (also in the same section). it will actually stay there for a few hours until it all drains out. this is why i change oil after letting the car sit overnight, no oil pours into my eye as i unscrew the oil filter.
