Question how can i tell if this is a type r engine?

im buying a 1992 honda civic si, he claims its a B20 block(ive seen the code for this already and it is) and that it has a type R head which i dont kno how to tell if this is correct, anyway of telling if it really is a type r head, i will put some pics up of it. only reason im asking is, is because anyone can slap that spark plug cover over the plugs. its the last pic

I'm going to say neg. Here's why:
1) Why would somebody take a JDM ITR head and bolt it to the US-spec LS bottom-end and not just go with such a perfect-from-the-factory motor like the B18CR?
2) Judging by the (again, IMHO) opinion TASTELESS work with the car, based on the pictures you provided, (i.e., cheap headlights, "bling-bling" wheels, and "Tenzo R" on the valve cover), I am willing to bet money that it is just a B20, no special head, no nothing.

Now if the car actually showed signs of having quality work/parts on it, then maybe, but as I look at it, I'm gonna say bet money on the fact that it isn't "Type R". I know I am not answering your question directly, I am just going off what I see. Good luck, and do your homework before buying a car based off what the previous owner says it has/does not have done to it.

yes i believe it is right above the headers, should be pretty visible.. you know it is above the ports, so if not on exhaust side to check on the intake side, but once again i am pretty sure that it will be on the exhaust side
