Question What spring do you guys use on your Type R other than the stock?

I am a newbie. I like to lower the ride height on my Type R by an inch. What spring is recommended that can improve upon the stock one? A dealer recommends Gound Control ($299)which you can adjust the height by using only one wrench. What do you guys think? Or do I get the whole coilover set? If so, what brand and model?

I rarely take my ITR to a track. I simply want to have better look and better handling and I mainly drive it on streets and freeways. Thanks for your advice.

If you get ANY kind of adjustable perch springs, you should most definitely replace your shocks as well.

If you just get springs, as long as they are not an aggressive drop, then you can keep your stock shocks. I would stick to companies that make springs SPECIFICALLY engineered to be used on the R (H&R, Neuspeed).

I ran the H&R Sport springs. Approx. a 1.75" drop, and the stock shocks worked fine with them.

Would you please tell me the model of the H&K spring that you used? I am thinking about only an inch drop. Do you think that the adjustable Ground-Control spring won't work on the R? Also, Acura dealer told me that if I lower the R and I could have damages on the axles and/or the transmission. Do you have problems like these? Or the spring installer must know the factory spec. The dealer said lowering the car would certainly change the factory spec and induce damages. Any advice? Thanks a lot.

See quote above .....

They also have the OE Sport, but I do not think they are Type R specific.

One way to get an inch drop would be to get the GS-R Sport springs. This is because while it is a 1.75" drop for the GS-R, on the R it will only be an inche, because the R is ALREADY 3/4" lower than other Integras .......

I never had any problems. You just have to be careful not to drop it more than 2", which you don't plan to do.

I didn't run a camber kit, and the alignment wasn't really out of spec.

Thumbs up

Nothing better than H&R for the R. Very common.

H&R, Neuspeed and of course Spoon.

I say stick to stock unless you need new ones or really know how to drive the stock R well.

But, for looks and to stay within spec with a slight drop the above ones mentioned are what is done.

Good luck,

A.

To ITR 00-0926

In fact, I just installed the Ground Control Spring with stock shock with about an inch drop. Although the improvement is not day and night, it still slightly improves on handling and stability. Slightly lowered ride height does improve stability during high speed. The trade-off is little bumpier than before but still acceptable. Thanks to everyone who expressed their invaluable opinions here.
