what is type-r?
hi... very 'noob' question here.... couldn't find an answer when searching.
what exactly does type-r mean? A model fitted with more racing parts then stock?
i.e. what's the difference between a civic si and a civic si type-r?
thanks.

Whats the difference between a Corvette and a Z06?
Whats the difference between a Mustang and a Mustang GT?
Whats the difference between a Supra and a Supra Turbo?
Whats the difference between a ?????
I hope you get the drift. There wouldn't be any difference if the names were the same. Its obvious it came with different parts from the factory. With what? Well thats something you have to look up as its pretty easy to find searching anywhere on the internet.
Here's a start though, none of the car's mentioned above has VTECH...
I mean VTEC. LOL!

We in Europe have the pleasure to enjoy the absolute fablous Type-R model, wich is manufactured in UK (even the Japan model) and you in the rest of the world is left out for some odd reason, but we in the other hand doesen't have the Integra DC-5 (Acura RSX).
You have the Civic Si, and Civic SiR, for Canada that is a bit of a "halfbreed" and a little brother to the Type-R (There are no Si, or SiR models here either)
There is a VERY short description...
The Performance is a bit different
Civic Si/ SiR
Maximum Power: 160Bhp
0-60: 7,5sec
RevLimiter: 7100rpm
5-Speed gearbox
Civic Type-R
Maximum power: 200Bhp
0-60: 6,6 sec (6,8 sec pre facelift)
RevLimiter: 8250rpm
6-Speed gearbox

I just wanted to say that there isn't a civic si type r. There either one or the other. si or type r unless your talking about the sir which is a completely different thing. Maybe that will help get the ball rolling for you.

I personally don't like the look of the CTR in europe, but at least there is one. Canada's cars are labled differently than the US. The SI there is actually the EX model in the states and the SiR there is the SI in the states. And the SI in the states is not even the CTR model. I don't think its safe to just go off labeling for the lower model trims because it varies too much.
But the Type-R's are pretty much the same except for some minor things.

Rev limiter is different from red line. Rev limiter is when the car shuts off to prevent itself from over revving. Redline is just the max rpms you should take it to.
