The main reason you're not finding that price is because Honda is really just producing the top of the line Fit with the Auto transmission. They are having trouble meeting the bare minimum for the demand right now, so they are sticking with just this set-up for production. I have been waiting for a 5 speed Sport since 5/8/06 with no idea when it will be arriving.
Yeah it kinda sucks to have to wait this long, but i prefer it to the GM and lately Toyota way of just cranking out as many units as they can as fast as they can. Believe it or not the amount of customer complaints has skyrocketed ever since Toyota adopted this "let's beat GM" mentality.
So needless to say, if you are waiting for a bare bones, as in less markup for the dealer, Fit......you will probably be waiting even longer than i have. Till they catch up with the demand. My dealer told me they aren't even allowed to take a down payment on any 5 speed Fits until late 2007 - early 2008.
