Fit Vibrations

As a recent owner of Hondas Fit, I have a question to ask all other Fit owners. Has anyone felt the vibration at interstate and highway speeds? This vibration fades in, lasts about 5 seconds then fades out over and over.

I don't have any vibrations like that in my Fit.

Maybe give your dealership a call. It's got a warranty.

Exclamation

It has been to the dealership 3 times and to Goodyear for a tire & wheel swap. The vibration is still there. American Honda says its a "characteristic" of the car, but it can't be a "characteristic" if all aren't doing it. I posted this thread in hopes of getting feedback. I think I bought a bad car. A few more responses would be appreciated.

Exclamation sometimes

Sometimes under hard braking, but I'm giving the anti-lock brake system the benifit of the doubt for that cause. I replaced the wheels and tires at a cost of $1800 because 3 of the 4 stock wheels were bent from the factory. This seemed to only make the vibration worse, probably due to increased sensitivity at the steering wheel. If someone could give me an idea what the probable cause is I would appreciate the info. Corporate is trying to tell me that because I bought the base model I should expect an inferior product, labeling it "characteristic" of the base model. By looking at the spec sheet everything is the same except for dress-up goodies and wheels.

first off, if you got sold a brand new car with bent rims, i'd be throwing a fit (no pun intended) to the dealship. they should have incurred that cost, not you. unless you bent the rims that is.

second, if it had bent rims, something wrong happened to that car. have you had it aligned since you got the new rims/tires on?

YES, bent rims right out of the "box". I have been raising all kinds of he##. They don't want the car back there anymore. The service manager told me he balanced the wheels himself the third time it was in, why didn't he see the bent wheels then? Because its a take your money and run dealership. The factory warranty isn't worth the paper it written on. Their service rep told them not to throw any parts at it because that would be admitting there is a problem. Why then would they try to balance wheels if they didn't think there was a vibration? Because for the same reason I caught one of their FAT A## techs leaning on it with a chained wallet in his pocket right after I had the paint protection done. INCOMPETANCE plain and simple. I asked about the alignment, it was supposedly checked and in spec. Not to mention the loose battery cable and scratched air bag cover. I gotta tell ya, if this is the way Honda does business, not from me anymore. Its up to the lawyers now.

Did you know that putting aftermarket wheels on your new car will void its warranty even if they are the same size as Hondas accessory wheels? (according to american honda customer service rep)

This note may not be relevent, but I thought worth of mentioning it here.
If you feel the vibration coming from engine bey or you feel more on your feet, there may be something to do with transmission. If your car is got a CVT tranny, situation could be more close. You may know in Asia there was a silent recall going on regarding upgrading cvts in Hondacity which is sedan having almost similar engine and transmission specs as to Fit. Check it out..

At hight speeds do you feel like loosing power with the vibration?

It sounds like alignment to me...my Nissan would vibrate
between 45-65mph, any higher-lower: no vibration. Got
an alignment; no more vibration. Which Honda dealership
is this? The ones I've dealt with are expensive as fuck, but
they do great work and usually bend over backwards if
there's a problem with their work/service. Bent rims on
a new car :eek.

I think most car makers are like this. I bought 3 Hondas
new and never once had to use the warranty. I even got
conned into paying extra for an extended one on my Sol .
Maybe take it somewhere else, like Big 10 Tires, and
have them check it out?

Bob Rohrman Indy Honda in Greenwood IN. No noticeable loss of power. I really like this car, mainly for the fuel economy. I drive 125 miles a day(90 on the interstate) 6 days a week, so I've owned the car 6 weeks and have almost 5k miles on it. At this point I don't care if I have to pay for the fix, unless it requires tranny replacement or something major like that. The hard part is finding a shop with quality and dedicated techs in the Indianapolis/Cincinnati area. I am a Harley-Davidson tech at one of the top dealerships in the country, Honda should take lessons from Harley, fix the car and cut out the politics.

Bob Whoreman?

I don't have a vibration problem with my Fit, nor with my dealership (Huntington Honda). They actually were eager to see my Fit with the Spoon Sports rims installed, and never gave me any bs about voiding the warranty just by putting aftermarket rims. I did get an extended warranty, but only because if I didn't use it, I'd get my money back (it's in writing). Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with your Fit AND your dealer... I think they have an attitude/service problem that needs ajusting, and a lawsuit just might do the trick You may also try to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau - any little thing to put more pressure on that unscrupulous dealer
