4th Gen Prelude Energy Suspension Master Set /Trailing Arm Kit

95 Prelude VTEC (4th Generation) Energy Suspension Master Set /Trailing Arm Kit

The setup is an excellent start or add-on to a suspension. It will make your suspension complete. After Installation, the car handles much better, carves the corners with even more ease. It gives you move confidence and precision around the corners.

The kits and miscellaneous fees totalled to about $200. I paid a shop to press out the old bushings becuase i do not personally own a hydraulic press. Installation was definately a hard one, but well worth it. It took me about 9 days to finish completely however i could have been done in a fraction of the time if i worked more hours each day. All in all, it can probably be done within two days as long as you have or have access to all the right tools. Things required include the kits of course, basic hand tools (impact tools are nice), a breaker bar, a ball joint puller, spring compressors, and a hydraulic press. You may or may not also need a torch to burn out the trailing arm main bushings.

All in all, the process is well worth it, the car feels much more responsive and i am glad that i did it. It is A LOT of work though, so be prepared.

Does it squeak at all? Does it make the ride harsh?

do you get the same rear trailing arm articulation with the ES bushings? The civic/teg ES rear trailing arm bushings are too stiff, so stock are actually better for those applications.

do you mean like regular travel in the trailing arm ie up/down? then yes

and mike, it doesn't squeak anymore than stock. like when its cold and a bit rainy out you'll notice a few squeaks here and there, but on any normal day it doesn't squeak at all. then again, i've only had the kit installed for about 4 months lol.

no i would get the trailing arm bushings, and when you order your kit, tell them you want a lot of the grease that ES uses. they only send you these tiny little tubes, and i would just recommend using it more liberally. then you probably won't develop squeaks. i mean, i have no problem with my suspension, and i'm really picky about those things.

I had the full front energy suspension on my old 94 Accord. It went through summers & winters and never heard one little peep.

I would highly recommend a bushing kit to anyone.. the performance & response is amazing ..

If anyone is wondering .. the main difference in the Energy Suspension & PROTHANE products is that the prothane you a metal shell to case the bushings and the ES are just press in .. Prothane has more available for my application, so I am going to be going for full prothane bushings next time .. I already have the motor mounts & rear arm bushings (uninstalled).

O.. and I wrote up a how-to when I installed them with some pics ..

I just installed the ES 4th gen kit into my 5ht gen and every then fits fine execpt the front upper control arm bushings, the trailing arm and motor mount inserts work fine. i did all the bushings in one day. i went a brought a 12ton press for 100 bucks a harbor freight. with this kit my suspension is now complete. during this same install i also did front & rear neuspeed sway bar, front & rear tanabe tie bars, a front neuspeed strut bar, and a reat tanabe strut bar. Along with a full TEIN type-FLEX coilover and EDFC setup. i have yet to take the car out of the grage yet so when i do i will let you know how it feels altough it may be hard to give a solid response on the ES kit with all the other add-ons.
