AEM Brake Pads

holy wow! these things BITE HARD!!! i had them on my accord and they out-performed the OEM pads in every way. less distance to stop and decreased brake fade. i think they retail pretty though...i forgot what they normally go for, but i only bought them because i needed new pads, and since i worked for a garage, i was able to get them for cheaper than what autozone sells their pads for

So these are great pads? I bought some and gonna install them along with my power slots this weekend. Can you believe I'm replacing ORIGINAL pads on my 1996 with 90k miles? And I still have 20% pad left the dealer said. Crazy.

For a lil FYI

OEM's are made by Nissin, the same manufacture of the AEM pads.

which means the fit will be perfect....but the pad material is a different from the oem pad, so it bites harder.

Exactly what I was about to say. manufactured by OEM peeps, but with a more aggressive compound. OEM fit, aftermarket performance

I picked up a set of them with some cross drilled & slotted rotors. Can't wait to give them a try.

Hey just an update to my brake setup. After a couple weeks of "braking" in they seem to make the car stop a lot better. Before they broke in and rubbed all the paint off the rotor surface, they were kinda disappointing to me. But now after I put some miles on them and did the heat tempering process, they work wonderful. Most noticeably when braking hard. Under normal braking, they work approximatly like stock brakes. But when you brake hard, they perform where stock brakes fail. There seems to be NO fade under hard braking and actually stop the car MUCH faster when a little more pressure is applied. So all in all, great setup so far! And looks kick @$$!!

I have noticed the same thing. I find myslef braking to early somtimes goin into a corner. They make me feel very confident both in spirited driving and when i don't think I can make a light

Yepper. I've had AEM and Nissan sitting side by side and they are identical except for the color of the backing plate. The compound looked identical even under a magnifying glass.

These are MUCH better than stock. Less dusting, when they do dust it's a dark gray so it doesn't look horrid, never ever squeeked, almost NO fade even under the harshest abuse, and even when they were bordering fade they still had a firm pedal feel unlike the sponges also known as stock pads. The bite is great, you'd almost swear you went to a bigger rotor.

I've tried Axxis MM on the accord and they had a great bite both cold and warm, but they were noisey as all hell(sounded like they were ripping the rotors to shreds, because they were) and they squeeked bad when cold. They dusted Sooooo much because of their bite. If you need to stop and don't care about only getting 1 turn(milling the rotor one time) out of a rotor then these are for you.

I've tried raybestos quietstop ceramic pads and these were the first brakes EVER that I removed before I needed to. I tried to tolerate them for about 2 months but they were soooooo unsafe it wasn't even funny. yeah they were quiet, yeah they were very very low dusting, but they forgot one key point, they didn't stop, and if you tried to slow from 45 to 0 two consecutive times they faded, and I mean went to 0 stopping power. And I'm not talking put my foot through the floor stopping, I'm talking mild commuter traffic 45 to 0 stopping. I almost went up someones ass so I changed them immediately.

I've tried EBC green stuff pads and they were the inverse of the raybestos for the most part. The did have low dusting but they were noisy as hell. They sucked when cold, but once you got the suckers warmed up OMFG did those things bite. For as much bite as they had I was surprised they were relatively nice to the rotors.

Out of all of the pads I think nissin(not nissan) pads are the best bang for the buck and the best of all worlds. Relatively low dusting, pretty quiet, good bite, good cold stopping, good hot stopping, little fade, great pedal feel, all around great pad.

I'm currently running Carbotech Bobcat pads with perrin 4 pot calipers up front and steel braided lines on the subbie and there were NO pads on the accord that even came remotely close to the stopping power of this setup, I can't imagine what a big brake setup would be like.
