Koni Yellows with H&R sports
98 Civic DX coupe
Well guys, i didn't see this in the section so please voice your opinion on the setup if you like.
First the install. It went very smoothly, the instructions with the yellows isn't exactly helpful step by step, but they do show the order things are to be put on. the dampering is just a turn of the wrist away. Of course you need a springs compressor, the springs are too hard to do it by hand. the only part that would have been easier with 2 people was the front. you need to push the LCA as far down as it will go to get the bolt back through. my mailman was walking by so i got him to help. then i realized what it was, i didn't bang the ring down far enough that holds the lower fork in place. the other side was much easier when i figured that out but still i'd recommend 2 people for that part. the rear was in and out in no time. just undo the LCA fron the brake and its easy work.
Now for the ride. I havn't set out on a mission to test the limits, but from what i can tell the springs are the hardest i'd go for daily driving. And if you keep the koni's on the softest setting it rides about like a brand new rsx does(compare to my rsx). the hardest setting is great. handles like a dream hardly any body roll. the middle settings you can fine tune to your liking.
Other features. the koni's have the height adjustability. two in the front and 3 in the back. i left mine on what it came with from them, the upper in the front and the middle in the rear. i could have gone down to the low in the front but it would be too low for me (its only a 2 finger gap).
I do have a si rear sway bar that i'm going to install when i have a chance. so i'll update in how that improves the already great setup.

well i did get the rear sway installed. only took about 15 minutes. i'm not a small guy so it was hard to crawl under there, but i got it done.
it definately helps out though, i noticed a huge difference throughout corners and just the overall stability of the car.
this setup is great and what i was always wanting to have. if you have any questions or concerns of the setup or where to possibly get them for a reasonable price, PM me and i'll let you know.

ok back again, got a chance toplay with the settings there are 5 settings on each strut.
1) stiff but like a brand new civic
2) getting better, feels like the stock ride of an rsx
3) this is getting much better now, stiff but not too stiff
4) this is stiff, but very manageable, if you live where there are alot of bumps in the road don't go to this or beyond
5)  extremely stiff, you can feel every bit of the road and it handles like a dream. if there are bumps on the road slow down for them, it will hurt |

they are good choice, let me know how those race springs feel.
the only thing now is that i need a front sway bar and i think that should be it for my suspension. too bad i can't just get an ex bar and endlinks....stupid dx. oh well

um....i got mine from www.nolimitmotorsport.com (they are in NY) but they had a nice sale and i got them for i think 450. which now they are 508 + ship. www.modacar.com has them for 525+ship.
also when you order from www.allsprings.com try to enter shipht as a coupon. to see if that still works. its free shipping for....but that was over a year ago. |
