Omnipower-USA Front Camber Kit (96-00 Civic)

I purchased an Omnipower Camber kit from www.kteller.com a few months back. This kit was black instead of the usual red. It was from a batch of custom colors that kteller had done by omnipower. There were a few places where the coating didn't look so hot, but nothing to really be too concerned about.

I have a 98 civic ex. The 96-00 kit replaces the complete upper arm, balljoint, and bushings. I do not know if the bushings are rubber or urethane. I *think* that they are rubber, but not 100% sure of that, but they don't squeak at all.

After doing some research online, I found that many people with the skunk2 camber kits had problems with the rubber boot tearing and causing damage to the balljoint. Most people recommended using a new Honda OEM boot and OEM clip to hold it in place. I like this solution much better than what is provided with the kit and I will try to post up pics so that you can see the difference. I also packed a little extra grease in the boot.

One complaint is that the balljoint stud has a hole in it to put the cotter pin through. This hole is bigger than the hole in the oem unit, so you have to get creative with the cotter pin to keep it in place, but no biggie. You can get bigger cotter pins at any auto-parts store, but it really should have come with some.

Installation was pretty straight forward. I do not have a CAI, so it took a while to install the passenger side because I had to remove the battery and the stock air box to access the bolts to remove the stock upper arm and install the omnipower arm.

Once I got it all back together and went for a test drive, I immediately noticed that my steering was much more responsive and precise. I believe this is due to the fact that the 96-00 has the bushings integrated into the upper arm, so installing a camber kit also gets you a fresh set of bushings.

The next morning, I took the car to get an alignment. The shop didn't complain at all about the kit, but I also told them ahead of time that I had a camber kit, so there were no surprises.

The following weekend, I did my first hpde. The kit held up fine. Nearly 200mi around the track and some hard corners in excess of 90mph with no problems whatsoever. Looks like a quality kit. I'm happy with it thus far and very reasonably priced.

nice writeup.
The most shocking part is that you don't have a CAI
Did you really mean 200miles on the track? That's a lot of driving!

Say again what shock/spring setup you have for us please....

Yep, nearly 200mi on the track itself. Had a total of 3hrs of track time this past weekend. I'm using h&r sports w/koni yellows.

Here is a link to the skunk2 camber kit install. Omniman who designed the Omnipower camber kit is a former employee of skunk2 and designed many of their products.

My kit was identical to this one, except it was black. Notice the small rubber boot over the ball joint and the little spring holding it in place. That is what I replaced. OEM boot (much larger and more pliable/flexible) and OEM clip to hold it in place.

Anyways, here is the pic of the omnipower ball joint with its boot and spring (left) and the omnipower ball joint with the oem boot and clip (right).

I have the same camber kit on my 6th gen civic. The passanger side bushing fell out and the arm is pressed against the car. A fluke I guess. Kteller shipped out a replacement kit ASAP for me. Excellent CS!

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I know, the pic sucks... I took it like 2 weeks ago and just got it off the digicam last night. So I was stuck with that pic... way too late to snap another one.

I was usining these UCAs for auto-x and street driving. After my first event I noticed the car was pulling to the left under braking. Well I thought I must of chopped the tires. So I did two more events a week apart after that and took 1st and then 3rd. So up comes the next event. The car was making a strange squeak when turning the wheel in one direction. I decided to do a little inspection of my car before running it the next day. Well the UCA bushing had come lose from the control arm causing it to move back and forth. I called up Bob at Omni Power and he said he needed those back and would warrenty them. Apparently, what happen is there was a problem with the powered coating causeing the bushing to not seat properly. Ther'ry going to send me some new ones and A+ to Omni Power for their customer service. I have the Red UCAs for the EK 96-00 Civic. If you have these please check to make sure you control arms are solid. Its not good to drive the car like that.

Just installed this today actually on a Civic; install went VERY well and easy.
Used the Ball Joint forky thing and was easy as hell.
Liquid wrench made it simple too, the ball joint was confusing at first glance but after about 3 seconds I figured out what to do.
I see what was meant about the castle nut/cotter pin issues.
Rather than bending it around and tryin that method we took off to home depot and bought a brass coated stainless steel cotter pin measuring 1/8th by 2 inch long and then cut it down as needed. Shizzle was STRONG compared to the stock oem cotter pin too, fitment was snug and very nice.

Thumbs up Omni Power Front Camber Kit

after buying two sets of tires every year, It was getting to costly, so it was time to get a camber kit. First thing I should point out is the omni power camber kits are very high quality. Althought the red paint job could have been done a bit better. My particular set had areas of paint that were flaking off. Perhaps an anodized part would be best, although probably cost more. The Omni Power camber kit is very easy to install, and I had no fitment issues at all which is always a plus in my book. It's also very easy to adjust, and set I installed and adjusted my camber in a few hours. high quality, great product, I highly recommend getting one.
