Get some rods from a d16a1 88-91 teg.
they can handle up to 220 hp. A set of eagle pistons should
be able to handle anything you throw at it. But without proper fuel tuning you will still burn shit up.

A D16Y8 can handle 75 shots of nitrous no problem. The things you need to do, are the same things you would need to do even if you had a built engine.

Spark plugs that are 2 steps colder, gapped tighter.
Retard ignition timing by 2-4 degrees.
Upgrade your fuel pump.
Use ATLEAST 91 octane fuel.

75 shot on a STOCK D16 might be pushing it a little even if you had all that ignition stuff...you could probably run 75 shot every once in awhile but not alot espically on you motor...also your gonna need a stronger clutch

Shit, you're right, forgot about the clutch. That will be a must after a few times.

75 shots though, on a dry kit isn't shit. Did that for well over 6 months. Went through probably...250 lbs of nitrous? Two ten pound bottles...both refilled each week, six months.
Don't try to go daily with more than 60 shots of a wet kit though.

I don't advise doing that though, it's more cost effective to go turbo at that point. 250 * $4 = 1,000 Just in fills over a course of six months.

You don't necessarily need a cam or a cam gear. You can retard the timing at the distributor... should be three bolts you loosen, then rotate the whole distributor assembly clockwise, that will retard your timing. A cam might adjust the values of overlap and duration, and may be beneficial in a nitrous setup, but don't get a cam gear unless you have a cam (you don't need it since you'll either advance or retard the timing by 10* with every notch on the cam gear, and you'll sacrifice low end torque for high end HP or if you retard it, you'll sacrifice high end HP for low end torque. Just leave it at 0 just like the stock cam is set at).

Dont fuck around with you CAM GEARS to retard timing get an IGNITION to mess with you timing...get an aftermarket ignition..(MSD, Crane, etc)

...if you want to get rods that are stronger and cheaper get some B18B or B16 rods....B-series rods in a D-series block YES they will work with a little customization done to them and there WAYYYY stronger than those tooth-pick d-series rods
