new block, as in... never been used? no miles whatsoever?

if it is really "new"... then no, you shouldn't have to. if it's not, then you're gonna want to run leakdown/compression tests on it and verify the condition of it before putting nitrous through it or changing rings. You shouldn't have to change pistons at all unless they're fucked up.

after that, read the FAQs in this forum and do LOTS of research.. if everything is done properly and used correctly, you shouldn't have problems at all.

again, read through the FAQs. Just cause you DD it doesn't mean you can't run whatever shot you feel like. Just make sure it's properly set up before doing it.

The one thing nitrous is great about with DDers, is that you're not always on the nitrous. It's not like a turbo of SC where it's always on, always producing boost and power.

That said, build it properly and use it safely, and you can do whatever. Generally though, a 75 shot is gonna be more than you'll ever need for basic street use...

if it were me, rule of thumb I always tend to use with nitrous is to build for more power than you expect to make. So if you're planning on running a 75 shot, go ahead and build your shit to handle a 100 shot, but only use the 75. This way, you know your motor will be able to handle that type of power on a regular basis, and you won't be stretching anything system too thin.

What kind of piston and rings are in it now? It would be wise to change some goodies now before it goes in the car. I would guess a nice forged piston with a hellfire ring and a good rod and some apr rod bolts. Then spray a 150 with some race gas and back the timing down.

that's a pretty huge build for a basic street motor. I wouldn't suggest 150 shot on a build, race gas, and timing retard. there's a lot more to it than that.

no, no I didn't. You did. and it was a bad suggestion.

a daily driven Honda motor isn't going to hold up to a 150 shot of nitrous on a basic forged piston install, some race gas, and retarded ignition timing.

to make a Honda motor withstand a 150 shot of nitrous, ESPECIALLY on a daily driver, something you dont want to explode... you're going to have to upgrade fuel delivery and ignition components. You will, without a doubt, need a higher volume fuel pump, and possibly larger injectors. You will, without a doubt, need two or three step colder plugs along with a few degress of timing retard. You might also consider an upgraded ignition coil and a capacitive discharge, multiple spark ignition. On a shot that high, you might also want to consider a decent amount of air/fuel tuning. But that's just if you want it to last and be reliable at that kind of power level. With all those things, you may not even need to break into the engine... no internal upgrades needed. Nor would you need anything higher than a standard 91+ octane gas.

You might get away with running a 150 shot on that setup you suggested for a couple sprays... but it's not going to last long. Honestly, I'd be really surprised if it lasted more than one spray.

Maybe the V8 in your sig could withstand a shot like that with so little work... I dont know much about them in particular. But I do know a good bit about Hondas, and that shit isn't going to fly.

To the original poster: Just because you've done the internal work, don't expect your motor to withstand whatever you throw at it. when using any type of forced induction, the three most important things are fuel delivery, ignition capability, and air/fuel tuning. If you overlook those things, even your bulletproof built block is sooner or later going to take a shit on you.
