Nitrious used to cool intake air and not injected?

Are there any systems on the market that use NOS to cool the intake air, without injecting NOS into the engine (like a intercooler which uses NOS as the coolent)?

not that I know of...

I know ZEX makes an air filter with a nitrous nozzle pre-installed in the center, but the nitrous still goes into the engine...

why would you want to do this though? I mean, the whole point of nitrous is to go into the engine, to add extra oxygen to produce more power...

I think that NX Ntercooler you're talking about uses CO2... I mean, I guess it could use nitrous too... but I can't really think of a way to practically apply nitrous or CO2 to the intake air charge without getting it into the engine... you could try it on the outside of the pipe, but you're not gonna get it everywhere so it really wouldn't be effective...

Ya...I only ask the question because I seem to recall an ad somewhere...maybe ebay...for a NOS cooling system for intake air. I never thought much about until recently, since I'm looking for a way to intercool my GSR JR SC. I have had a lot of good suggestions like LHT (too expensive), 25 shot of NOS (I'm considering), and methonal/water injection (still evaluating).

I can imagine some sort of cooling sleeve installed before the throttle body( tubing inside the sleeve, tightly wrapped around the intake tube for maybe 6 inches). NOS would enter the tubing, flow through, and out the other end of the tube, which would vent through a venturi (much like the existing blow off valves). The rate of cooling could be controled by the flow allowed to be vented. Ok....I guess it is time to wake up huh.....I wish I could remember where I saw the ad...tks for the reply

Nah seemed to help with gains on a hot day though. A mag did an article on that cry02 bottle and it did increase whp. You'll notice the biggest gains on a hot day. Looking into the HONDATA intake manifold gasket. That will help lower the temperature of your intake air as well. PEACE.

There's a guy in my apartment complex who runs a stroked B18 with a 30 boost turbo intercooler the works. He races and I think he's sponsored by a local speed shop here in SLC.

Anyways when he's been running quarter miles with his civic his intercooler gets super hot and will start a dim red glow at times. So he showed me his system where he will run N20 or CO2 through the intercooler itself. He said he's working with a buddy who is going to design a simply switch that will start the gas spray when the intercooler hits a certain temp.

I assume you're talking abotu an air/air intercooler..but NX already makes an intercooler sprayer system....ed bergenholtz came up with the idea and made his own years ago with NOS components

I dunno if I really believe the cry02 system can dramatically lower temps. It's only cooling a few inches of the intake pipe. And at the speed the air is moving through there, I could only see it making a few degrees difference. Heat wrap on your header and intake pipe might actually lower your underhood temps enough to lower your intake air temp the same amount.

yeah when i replace my intake manifold and throttle body I am going to heat wrap the intake pipe as well and use a heat resistant gasket from hondata when i do the intake mani.

what kinda header do you have. i'd wrap the header also. thats probably the biggest source of heat in there.

two piece JDM 4-2-1 header. If I heat wrap that i worry about burning up the heat wrap. Also where do I buy heat wrap?
