Nitrous on a GS-R motor with CTR pistons can it be done?

I want to spray @ least a 50 shot single fogger. Can it be done since they are cast pistons and my compression is like 12.3:1?

All I have done motor wise is the ctr pistons and a chipped p28.

Are you talking about the nitrous part?

don't do the n2o on cast pistons with that compression ratio. way too high. either lower c/r or forget about the nitrous game. no point in destroying your motor.

i could see it working with 100-110 octane fuel and a bit of extra ignition retard, but how long it lasts is sketchy.

12.3:1 C/R + cast pistons + 50 shot of N2O isn't really a good combonation if you want the motor to last.

what kind of cams are you using? stock GSR?

Its not so much the pistons or the compression, it's the chipped ecu. It could advance the timing to much and encourage detination to occur. No, the nitrous is possible just with the right jetting and timing retard. As for the fuel used the higher the octane the less chance of detination due to the fact that higher octane burns alot slower and cooler than its lower octane counterpart. Hope this helps:

the ecu has no timing advance just upgraed fuel maps and rev limit 9000 rpm.

stock cams for now, i'm getting ctr cams(so don't have to upgrade the valve spring as long as i don't rev higher than 8400 rpm) and skunk2 manifold.

What if i put in some je pistons and eagle rods? around 12.5:1 compression stock bore.

Damn I don't even know if my motor is stock bore, that's what I get for buying a motor with somthing done to it I didn't do.

as he just explained, a chipped P28 with a DOHC VTEC program doesn't have to have altered or advanced ignition maps (or even more fuel). normally the redline is raised and the VTEC crossover point is changed depending on the setup. sometimes just the stock program to run a B16A or B18C1/5.

the higher octane fuel will definantly help resist detonation and the CTR pistons are excellent cast pistons, but in the long run there could be problems if something goes wrong. if the mixture runs low on fuel or the ignition system goes faulty or advances.

with a 50 shot wet, the 100 octane fuel and enough ignition retard i'm sure it'll run fine for quite awhile.

i think with your set up that would be the smart choice.
