if you dont use it correctly you can blow your motor. no blowing your car in half kinda stuff though. do a search or check out the stickies, lots of good info. before i bought my n2o kit i did quite a bit of researching.
The only car that I have ever seen explode that was equiped with nitrous was in the Fast and the Furious. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just go to the Holley Performance page for NOS, and read it all. That will answer most any question you could have. Also read the stickies.

Nitrous is no more dangerous, and has no more potential to blow an engine than a turbo or blower. You MUST follow the directions, and you will have nothing to worry about.
