Okay I'll make my goal of 12.1 to include drag slicks. My local performance shop told me to just go with CompCams stage 2's, drive train, some forged pistons and like a 75 shot of nitrous and I should be good to go, but I wanted to try and use less than that especially since you got to refill the bottle and over time that will cost me more.
Mods: JDM B16a swap, 17"ADR M-Sports (gunmetal finish with polished lips), wings west rs kit, extreme blue pearl paint, and eibach sportline springs.
Those cams are excellent I have a set here in my closet waiting for installation this spring. I am not going with titanium retainers as they DO wear out fast. I am using ITR retainers which are lighter than the b16a units and probably some crower or skunk 2 springs. If your setup is in a light car it might graze the 12's with slicks. Those cams are mint while off the bottle and yet produce even more on it with good design getting the full effect of the juice. You do have a dohc vtec right? Oh and BTW with a 75 shot on a b16a or what not you don't need forged pistons if the nitrous is TUNED correctly..tunning is the key. No matter how strong your pistons are, a lean mixture will burn a hole right through a piston anyhow.

the JDM ITR tranny is real good overall. but you could go with the ATS 4.9 gears. my friend may be getting them soon when he does his N/A setup, and i'm mostly likely gonna get them if i ever get the $$.
you can take the GSR or SI tranny and swap in the ATS gears.
they're about $700-750 normally.
the Quaife LSD is one of the best but it costs $800. that's another thing i'd like to get when i do my gears.
Originally posted by CrowerRex Hey sweet, you have heard what sort of bad things about comp cams? Just curious cause I have the cams but their not installed yet. Thanks
i was talking to my friend the other day about cams (cause we're both doing N/A buildups this year) and he's been researching stuff and talking to people. the Crower cams have had some trouble in the past with breakage, and the CompCams are even newer and have had some similar problems. the JUN 3's have had breakage also. most have been remedied, like the JUN 3's and Crowers, but alot of companies like Crower haven't been covering the damages from breakage from what i've heard.
the Skunk2 cams are very good, as are the Toda cams and the newer JUN cams. that's what i'm gonna go with soon for my N/A, Skunk2 stage 2 for the street. i met a guy in FL with a built CRVTEC who's running JUN 3's currently. he had Skunk stage 1 cams first, then moved onto stage 2's which he said were too peaky in the powerband, so he then went with JUN 3's and got them to idle fine. he said the JUN 3's kinda had the low and mid of the Skunk2 stage 1's and most of the high end of the stage 2's.
the Skunk2 cams are the same as the stock cams with different grinds so the durability and performance are similar to stock cams.
of the cams i would get, based on price, were the Skunk2 first, then a toss up between Toda and JUN. if i had the $$ i'd go with the Toda or JUN but i don't right now.
i'm not saying that the CompCams won't work well or last, but i haven't heard many good things about them so far. it's up to you really.
i still believe ti retaines are valuable, what holds ur springs and retains them in place?...the retainer. of course you could also go w/ type r's. im almost positive youd want a cam w/ longer duration w/ n20, id advise going w/ something else rather than comp cams..simply because they are untested in our market. i can give you the name of an awesome cylinder and cam guy, he is currently producing cams and valvetrains. id call the manucfacturer of the nitrous kit u plan on buying for their recomendation, after all, they know n20 and cams better than anyone else. i still think youll need atleast a 80 shot of n20 , some slicks, and a decent NA setup weighing almost nothing. then ull hit the time you want. call up alaniz cylinder head technologies for head configurations.
id like to see some itb's w/ direct port hehe, i just finished my jg manifold and will post pics later.

so would i roby. my friend was thinking of ITB's for his N/A setup this year and even mentioned a custom DP N2O kit with the ITB's.
but now i think he's going with the JG IM and 70mm TB instead.
hey do you have a JG IM (GSR) for sale? or can you get one new?
i'm prolly gona go with the JG IM and Skunk2 stage 2 cams for my N/A setup. and a 68 or 70mm TB. if can get any of these let me know.
ill get some pics up when i get back home.. the damn jg mani has like only 3" runners..no bs. they are too short. i had to actually drill into the plenelum to position the fogger right before the runner. its pretty crazy haah. i should finish it up today...hopefully i measured everything good enuff to clear the fuel rail, also have to bend the lines for the fuel solenoid... the best place for parts is htech man, bar none. everything i bought was through htech for this motor except the jg mani , aeromotive a1000 pump, and a fuel sump. htech is awesome.
