GE Nighthawk Headlight Bulbs

I replaced the existing headlight bulbs in my 2000 Accord Sedan with GE Nighthawk bulbs. WallMart sells them and the set of four bulbs cost around 40 bucks. The bulbs that came out of the car (I don't know if they are OEM, since I just acquired the car used) were marked "Stanley." I thought about getting SilverStars, but they were a bit more money and I'd read mixed reviews about them here.

GE claims that the Nighthawks are their brightest bulbs.

Any review of lighting quality is going to be subjective. Photographs are no better, unless it's only to compare brightness. Anyway, to my eyes, they are slightly less yellow than the bulbs I replaced. Only slightly.

I replaced the passenger side only, and took a drive.

On a streetlamp/other car lit road, they don't make any difference at all. (except the color looks a bit 'whiter' to my eyes.) But then, who cares, because you can see pretty well there anyhow. On a dark, unlit road, the lows project slightly further, and the high beams are what I am going to term 'significantly' brighter/whiter. The view out to the side is seems quite a bit better, which is good since someone hits a deer about every other week here.

All in all, if you need bulbs, these are fine. They're not going to turn your car into a pimpin' blue-make-you-think-I-have-HID's ride, but they are a reasonable replacement for the OEM bulbs. My two year old, who 'helped' me with the replacement and came along for the test drive says they are "really, really, much more brighter." But then, he thought my car was much faster after we changed the oil.

side-note: I had a set of PIAA fogs on my last car, and I'm definitely going to get some for this car. For the money, auxiliary lights will provide more and better lighting for your buck than any claims made by the halogen bulb peddlers.
