i never understood what the big deal was with these harnesses...
NONE of us drive aggressively enough to the point we would even need such damn good harnesses...
the only purpose i see for these on a streetcar is that someone's trying to win a show...
oh well...
you're happy with them...

1) how do you know this?
2)Whats wrong with wanting a quality safety harness thats obviously top knotch.
3)The purpose of them is to keep you safe. I dunno about you, but im not about to trust my life to a pair of 50 dollar harnesses.

i'm not saying that safety is NOT important...
but most of the takata harnesses i've seen cost over $400!
and i did acknowledge that they are GOOD quality...
i did not make any mention of cheap grade belts...
i DO autocross... i DON'T car show...
my issue was, just like a girl wanting a really expensive pair of shoes, are you REALLY gonna use it to it's potential?
i have a set of sabelts that were much cheaper, but of very good quality nontheless...
is it just BRAND that makes them worthwhile?
like a set of genuine mugen parts?
what was the MAIN reason of wanting to get these belts?
i'm not looking to argue, but if you can say that they just look good, then that's fine.
wakanai...

You don't cheap out on a harness. However a harness is completely unsafe and you are probably more likely to get hurt with it than you would with just a seat-belt *UNLESS* you have it secured to a roll cage. So harness without a roll-cage is a no-no.

I heard that harness have an expire date on them. When that time come, all U do is ship them back & U received another new one. :eek
THAT ALONE IS WORTH $400.00.

good tip, common...
billy...
now that you have those harnesses...
make sure you install them PROPERLY...
and take your car out to a track day and see how REALLY WELL they hold you down in your seat...
you're gonna laugh with utter joy at how much fun it is...
like a kid in a candy store!

the expiration date refers to its competition use...
lets say if you run in a certain series, like super gt...
the harness would only be allowed to be used up until that expiration date...
then you would have to send the harness back for recertification...
otherwise, if that date is expired, you could not pass tech inspection.
if i have my facts mixed up, i ask that anyone correct me.
for time trials, autocross, track days, daily driving...
you need not worry.

I went with rci's, company has been around for years. They are real good quality.
As common sense stated, they do no good if they aren't mounted correct. Either way. Enjoy

i know absolutely NOTHING about harnesses other than you need them when racing to but i have a rookie question..
is there any harnesses around $150-250 (basically a lower price) that will probably do 99% of what the tanaka harnesses does? i'm sure it won't give you the "bonus" points at a show but know what i'm asking?

holy crap those are like under $100 and can still be used for competition...
pardon me but i think $400 harnesses are more "luxury" items then...
if you got the money, more power to ya...
unless i was loaded and really had money to spend away, i don't see myself getting takatas...

harnesses should ALWAYS be wrapped around a harness bar!!!
if the harness exceeds 5 degrees below or 30 degrees above the horizontal, you can actually crush your spine in an accident, or actually fall out of the seat during a roll-over.
