cf clearcoat help

i'm looking to redo the clearcoat on both my cf hood and trunk.... i talked to one shop, and he said that he would just clean off the surface real good with acetone(sp) and spray over the old clear coat... is this the way they're supposed to do it??

or do they need to remove the old clearcoat b4 spraying on the new one? he quoted me $200 plus tax for both trunk and hood... is this a rip off??

Price sounds about right. I don't know if they have to remove the old. Wouldn't think so.
