ClearCoat on metal.

will it take the shine away if i were to clear coat a polished metal?
and will it prevent rust?

I can't tell you for sure but there was truck magazine with a guy that had a Custom 10 and a 53' Chevy Pickup that were raw metal, don't know how he kept it from rusting. I imagine it had to do with a clear coat, however I would call a paint supply shop in your area and ask them........

yeah, i probly have to end up tryin to clear coat it out and see what happens.

it keeps gettin rust over it and im tire of sandin and polish it over again.

bjaccord will become famous soon enough
PPG used to make a clear sealer. All you would have to do is get that, then apply a couple coats of clear basecoat, then clear it. It might dull it ever so slightly, but not to bad. The sealer will prevent rust, the basecoat will act as a bonding agent for the sealer and clearcoat. L8r

ive clear coat it already...doesnt shine as much, but still no rust.

Clear nor paint will stick to bare metal. Eventually it is going to start flaking and peeling off, and where it does, you have bare metal which will be exposed to the elements, therefore being prone to rust.
