faded carbon fiber hood

hey guys so i have a carbon fiber hood on my car and when i first got it around November of 06 it looked bad but once we waxed it it looked pretty nice but since i wasn't able to keep up with it the sun seems to have faded it really bad and its always a white weird color on some parts. its not smooth when u touch it at all. some people say u can buff it out and it will look back to normal, or buff it then re clear coat it but i just don't know what to do and it looks pretty bad. so i was looking for some feedback from you guys on what i can do thanks so much!!

cheap fix, try peanut butter... trust me

or sand it, working your way up to a high count grit paper, then spray clear with a gun starting from the center alternating directions between coats.

I've done both... the reclear last longer
