paint shop shouldn't charge you any less or more. They are still going to have to tape off the whole car. Depending on the paint shop, they will either scuff what you have and paint it. Or primer the entire car, then paint it .

ok i get that...now what do you think a good price for my size car would be to get it prepped and painted with only minimum amount of dents...i have one on the rear panel right where it flares out for the wheel well..and maybe a few VERY small other ones...and im not getting any crazy color...im trying to get it painted midori green with a black hood...my cheap ass cant afford a cf one lol...i know the color is a rare honda color but i would assume a good paint shop should have it right?

All depends on if you want the door jams, under the hood, trunk area painted. Color changing cost more because of all the extra work. There is a hella lot more taping. Paint also is a big factor, it can range alot buy color and quality.
Best guess, for a good paint job, anywhere from $1000 for a fair job to $2000 for a great job. Both those prices are just guesses. You might be able to find a shop to do a hella good job for less, but I don't know whats avaliable in your area. Best thing to do is call around, when you find a price you like, ask to look at something they have painted. If they give you excuses why it looks bad, take it to the next place.

Most good paint jobs aren't cheap, and most cheap paint jobs aren't good

if you do it yourself, you might regret it and waste time and money...unless you have shop experience, just get it professionally done. it will also give you the piece of mind of knowing that they will fix all mistakes cost free.
