i cant watch the clip either, but i did the same thing when i was first learning to drive a stick in my taurus SHO, was goin 80, in third, meant to put it in 4th even though i was nowhere near redline (i was at 5000), and hit 2nd, tach went way into 8k plus RPM (at least the engine was built to take that kind of RPM's), and man i was screwed, weird vibrations and stuff, took me 2 months of not driving (didnt have 1st, 2nd, or 3rd cause of what happened), it was the clutch and something with the pressure plate that made it kinda "wobble" and wouldnt let me engage into the 1st three gears. everything else was fine though, the flywheel didnt even need to be resurfaced when we put in the new clutch. but man is sucked real bad overall

Ha ha lmao! I know a kid that did that exact samething! He was a year younger and went to my old HS. He was racing a S2K when he downshifted @ redline in 3rd instead of upsifting. Not only did he blow his engine, a cop saw the whole thing and gave him a street racing ticket. LOL. The dealership said it would cost 7k for a new engine so it just sat in his parents garage for about 5 months. Then they got him another RSX but it was just a base model w/ an Automatic! lol I almost died from laughing when I heard that. Then he ran that into a trailer hitch of a truck and ripped his whole front end off! :laff: :laff: :laff:

HOLY SHIT what a fucking idiot! And his parents are even dumber, they bought their kid an S2000 and after he fucked it up racing they bought him an RSX?? What the hell?? Even if I was a multi-billionaire, I wouldn't spend more than like $15k on my kid's car, there's no reason to spoil a kid like that. Oh and I'm surprised Honda only wanted $7k for that engine, isn't it more like $9-10k if you try to buy one normally?

Sorry but I made a mistake and mislead you. He blew the engine in his RSX-TypeS WHILE racing AGAINST some other kid in his daddy's S2000. Then later he got a regular RSX w/automatic and preceeded to fuck that up too. LOL I've never heard of anyone mis-shifting and over-reving the engine, but its so funny. That video scares me though, there are times when I shouldn't have been driving I was so wasted and I thank God everyday for rev-limiters and I know my car does too.
Yeah to the guy at the bottom of the thread: "Yeah I know its not good to drink and drive, I did about two weeks ago for the 1st time in 6 months and I got a DUI in Scottsdale. So yeah I fucked up. Take it as a lesson: HAVE A DESIGNATED DRIVER. Or get a cab, I wish i had. $30 would have been cheaper than $3000 and my liscense and jail time : so there goes my turbo kit and Im selling my car to pay for it!" : : :
Rev limiters only work when accelerating up to the redline though. If you downshift past redline it still fucks the engine. You probably know that, I'm just clarifying so some new driver doesn't do it for fun thinking it's safe cuz of the limiter and screw himself. But it is NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DRUNK. Don't tell me "things happen" because they don't, and I don't mean to lecture or be a "mommy" but please don't drive drunk ever, no matter WHAT for the safety of others if not yourself. End of lecture.
