95 Accord starts then shuts off immediately.

I've been having some problems with my 95' Accord lately. It started one day while I was driving the car just stopped for no reason while I was on the highway. Tried starting the car again, but it wouldnt start until I let it cool down for a while. I drove it back home fine. Then the temperature started to go up rapidly when the car was idle, I found out that there was no coolant in there. So I put some water in there, drove on the highway again, no problems except I did notice my speedometer and tachometer going crazy going to zero and back while I was driving. I got back home checked the water it was empty again, and the car wouldn't start even after I let it cool down for the next day and filled it back up with water. I believe it is an ignition problem because the car starts and stays on when the key is on the III position, but as soon as I let go and it goes back to the II position it stops. I'm not sure if the two issues are related, but I would appreciate any help I can get fixing this issue because I've read that many people had the same issue but I couldn't find a fix.

Sounds like an ignition switch problem, or a grounding issue. As for the coolant it would be unrelated to the ignition.

Was there ever a aftermarket stereo installed? You may be able to get a local shop to pressure test your cooling system for free. Call around. The test litterslly takes like 5to mins to do. They can then give you their price. Just don't pay for a pressure test. Autozone may have a pressure tester as a loaner tool. Check that option out as well.

Make sure both of your battery terminal posts are free of corrosion. My speedometer went crazy on me and car would not start on my next time if I go to start it. Found out it was my battery posts were corroded even though they look clean as hell on the outside. Remove both battery terminals to find corrosion.
