do the intakes hang out the wheel well like i've seen on other cars or does it go into the bumper? If it's the second choice is it as suseptiable(think i spelled that right) to sucking in water as CAIs the stick into the wheel well are?

my cold air sits behind the front bumper...
i know there are some out there which go into the wheel well... but not sure about the years or models of them...
just get a bypass valve and you won't have to worry about water either way... but i've heard that the bypass only helps if the filter is completely submerged underwater.... like, if someone were to squirt water in there w/ a squirt gun - the bypass wouldn't help... so... i dunno...

I wouldn't be concerned about sucking in water. As the last guy said, unless you're driving through deep puddles of water after a major league flood (which would be silly, regardless) you need NOT worry about sucking up water. Basically, all the bypass valve does is take away the awesome growl you get from the CAI. IMO, leave it off...
Originally posted by SSXtreme I also just heard about this thing from K&N that goes over your air filter, blocks out water but not air. Is this thing worth the money?
post some pic of that if you got it.
to answer your question the intake filter of the CAI on the accord v6 is located inside the bumper. cold air reaches the filter element via underneath the bumper.
as for the bypass vavle its not really worth it. if you want assurance then just get the short ram.
Um... i wonder why that website didn't come up... I probably belong to that website. Anywayz, about the hydro-lock. You need to put the pipe in solid water (or close to completely solid water). SUBMERGE is the key word. Not, splash or drip. Therefore, if you want performance, DO NOT GET THE BYPASS VALVE. If you're worried, DON'T WASTE MONEY ON A CAI, get a short ram and don't worry.
I lost the clips to my wheel well, so my CAI just sits in open air!! Most of my under carriage is gone, and the filter stays clean. I just moved from Florida and as much as it rained there, I never had a problem. Just idiots drive through puddles man.
