tech wrench Changing Transmission Fluid...

Changing Transmission Fluid...

How do u do it?
My dad and I changed the oil and were going to change the Transmision fluid but he didnt know how . He never spends money taking anything that has to do with the car to the shop. What he did was unscrew screws and waited until fluid would start running out : kind of like oil does...

What gen Accord do you have? I know with the 4th Gen the tranny drain plug is right by the passenger side drive axle. If you look at your tranny and just follow it to the passenger side wheel well you'll see a bolt at the side of the tranny. Unbolt that let it completely drain and refill it. No tranny filter to replace or anything. Hope this helps.

Yeah... My accord is a 4th gen. I'll ask my dad and see what he says. I think we took out a screw from the place u described but then nothing came out. It was a fairly long screw

If it is a 4th gen, the tranny bolt is in tight place I think there is some type of a bar or obstuction that makes it fairly tight to get out. It's just on the side of the tranny. Once you remove this bolt you should see fluid come out immediately. Should be about 3 quarts to be exact? Your best bet is to get a Haynes manual and it will tell you exactly how to do it.

i've done this myself on my 6th gen... but i don't know what gen accords you have, but i think most car are the same.... from what i've know, the bolt looks like a socket itself... it located right under the tranny. you can just simply use a wrench, it simply goes into that bolt, just like when you use your socket.

in my 4th gen the bolt is not hard to get to..just got to jack the car up and use a breaker bar, or a simple wrench...

I don't think honda use helms because my bro bought a service book from honda for his lude and that book look like a text book with all the nook and crannie about the car far more that a helms or chilton book can ever give you. it about 3" - 4" thick.
