Cutting the shifter,,are you sure???
I am reducing the length of my shifter today after reading advice from this sho. Someone gave me a website that was for a prelude about cutting the shifter to make it smaller. they said to get a 12,11, and 10 mm die. i bought them and when i tried to see if the 10mm is the final thread there was alot of resistance getting over the existing threads. has anyone with an accord(preferably with a 6th gen accord) who has done this and can tell me what size dies they used...help. thanks
scott
they dont make a true short shifter for the accords. they just make an adapter but it doesnt make the shifter shorter it just makes the throws shorter. i am about to cut mine down also. i'll try to find some stuff and let you know

Well i did it...i finished it and everything went very smoothly. i just kinda rethreaded the shifter as a 10mm and the shift knob still fit perfectly. i knew that cutting the shifter would NOT make the throw any shorter but it does make it look a whole lot better. now when i get a short shift adapter i will have a good combo. i have seen some cars who have this really small throw but a really tall shifter. if anyone has any questions about doing it just ask me and i will try to help

i cut mine a bit too, but don't know y the shift knob still can't go down, it still stuck at the same high, anyone know?? how to do it??
