Disconnect Filter?

Heres a stupid thread to what im sure ppl in Accord thread are use to seeing cuz of the basics of n00bs in here. lol

Back to thread topic my friend has an non-well kept 1992 Accord DX coupe. He was trying to show off his fucking stock car (with a awesome sound system) to me today. I saw what he did. He opened his hood and disconnected the tube/hose that connects to the filter (remember no mod's to the engine) so its just a black tube sucking in air when the car is in motion. First off, He reved his engine which i have to admit sounded better with the filter off than with it on. Then when he drove it it sounded like a Short RAM intake lol essentially its the same as a short ram with no filter. The black tube coming from the intake with no filter. Now if that black tub were lets say a AEM Short ram it would be metal. But if you took the filter off the end of the short ram intake it would be equivilent to what he did...

Now this gotta fuck up the engine somehow. Cuz if it didnt why dont you see ppl riding around with a disconnected filter ya know. I have to admit what he did was fucking stupid as shit but it did sound pretty sweet.

So would having the filter off fuck up the engine? Or not really just depends how long you drive with it being that way?

if you disconnect the filter, contaminants can enter your combustion chambers via intake. Air contains many microscopic and macroscopic particles that can build up over time and may cause problems to your engine. The filter helps purify the air so less of these particles enter.

he takes it on and off like that when he trying to show off..and shit..but he doesnt drive with it off more than 10 minutes..i know in 10 minutes air gets in and as said b4 air has microscopic contaminants.. but i mean he doesnt care for the car. All he wants is for it to take him from point A to B. He never washed it does burnouts or makes the side tires squeel when he turns...He just doesnt care for it as something but a ragedy peice of junk to transport him and his girl. And if he can't provide transportation O his girl will bitch hahhaha ..

LMFAO, that is funny. Well 10 minutes at a time will still catch up with you but if he doesn't care than rock on. I feel pitty for the sucker who buys this POS after your boy tosses it

description on cars condition:
*Never been washed -interior and exterior for about 7 years
*Black spray painted bumper
*burn marks on the inside of the car while he lit like the little poper fireworks and threw them outa the car.
*walmart 20 % tint
*No right side mirror-cuz he left his keys in the car and broke that of and used a winshield wiper thing (the metal to hold the rubber on the winshield wiper) to open his car
*cloth on doors pealing off
*a spray painted foot on the dashboard.
*headlights falling apart
and more damn i should take pix lol

I'll see what i can do i gotta do an exam Wednessday so i might not chill with him on that day at college. I have classes Monday wednessday and friday.

If i do ill try to take pix of his peice ~ but ya know he'll be their with me while i take pix of his junk box...1 thing i forgot to add he has a nice sound system in the car but beside that everything else is shit or not taken care of

suprising this is theres no rust on the body (dunno about underneath) but on the doors side skirts etc no rust

This is from a user's gallery on SHO but could you do this and would it suck lol....he doesnt need no intake on that peice of shit..So this user showed me this pic a while ago this prob u could do and make the same "noise" as my friend did without it connected to the filter

talk about running with out a filter....
i wonder how those people with ITB's run their cars as a daily drivers and such...
so, with out the filter, you are basically geting anything into your throttle body..including the bugs and such. yeah BUG POWER! add some of that bug juice and it'll act like it's a 50 shot of nawwz!

have you herd about resionator box? something that cancels out the sounds before the filter housing?

i don't get the point of this thread.
